NERI Announces New Vice President of Epidemiology

Andre B. Araujo, PhD has been appointed Vice President of Epidemiology at New England Research Institutes. NERI’s Senior Vice President and Director, Dr. John B. McKinlay, made the announcement at the company’s annual holiday party and said “Everyone is impressed with Andre’s broadly gauged approach to epidemiology and his marvelous leadership and organizational skills. He’s an outstanding colleague and a terrific ambassador for NERI’s work.”

Dr. Araujo will oversee research within NERI’s Epidemiology Department and NERI’s Survey Research Center, which currently include over 30 staff (including epidemiologists and statisticians, as well as project managers, and support staff). His responsibilities will include business development and other executive tasks, mentoring of junior staff, and oversight of all epidemiologic research.

Dr. Araujo began his career as a Research Assistant on the landmark Massachusetts Male Aging Study at NERI in 1996. Since that time, he has earned a reputation as an expert in men’s health, publishing over 60 papers and winning numerous grant awards from the National Institutes of Health and private sponsors. In addition, while still employed at NERI, Dr. Araujo earned a PhD in Epidemiology at Yale University School of Public Health. He currently serves as Section Editor (Epidemiology) for the Journal of Men’s Health, and on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism and The Aging Male.
